Peppermint from our own selection

Strong aroma, even after dry summers. We select our own plants and propagate the best ones further — for field cultivation and pot culture.

In-house variety selection

The focus is on two characteristics that are usually mutually exclusive: a strong, menthol-heavy aroma and the ability to withstand dry summers without loss of aroma. Peppermint originally comes from moist habitats. Under drought stress, most varieties react with a decline in yield and a shifted oil profile — less menthol, more menthone, resulting in a sharper rather than rounder aroma. Our selection lines maintain both more stably.

Each line is evaluated over several years of growth: essential oil content, menthol content, leaf mass per cut, and behavior during dry periods. Only that which delivers reproducibly goes into further propagation.

Decades of experience with medicinal and culinary herbs

JPR Natural Products has been trading in medicinal and aromatic plants since 2003. Our proprietary peppermint selection is the consistent continuation of this work.
